Policies

Create or import a policy

Start a policy from editable content or upload an existing document for review.

Before you start

Who this is for: Users with permission to create policies; imports also require the relevant import access.

  • Confirm the organization and search for an existing policy first.
  • Prepare the source content and decide the policy's intended type and owner.

Follow these steps

  1. Choose the starting route

Open Governance > Policies. Use the new-policy route to write content in the application, or the policy import route to upload existing documents. A policy register import is a separate tabular workflow; choose the route that matches the material you have.

  2. Create policy content

In the new-policy form, enter Name, Description, and Type, then add Content. Available types include Internal, Public, Procedure, Standard, and Guideline. Choosing Public as a type does not itself publish the policy or share it through the Trust Center.

  3. Import existing documents when needed

On the upload form, select supported policy files and choose Upload policies. Inspect the result for each file, including any failure and the created policy link. Open each successfully created policy to confirm that the imported text and source document are the intended material.

  4. Review the draft

Check the name, content, and version before starting approval. Correct extraction or formatting issues using the policy editor. Approval and publication are later actions, so treat creation or import as preparation of the policy record.

What you should see

A policy exists for review with the intended content or imported source, ready for the approval workflow.

If something doesn’t look right

A file fails to import

Read its individual result and check the upload form's supported formats. Retry the failed item after correction rather than duplicating successful imports.

Imported text looks incomplete

Inspect the original source, correct the editable content, and save a new version before requesting approval.

The policy is not visible publicly

Creation and the Public type do not publish or share the policy. Complete approval and the relevant publication workflow.
