Approve a policy yourself or request review
Use the simple approval actions for the current version and inspect the result before publishing.
Before you start
Who this is for: Policy users permitted to start approval; self-approval also requires policy approval permission.
- Save the version you want reviewed and read its content.
- Check any displayed reason approval is unavailable or already in progress.
Follow these steps
Open the approval section
Open the policy and review the version number shown under Approve this version. Confirm its content is complete and that the intended source file and change note are present. Approval is associated with that version.
Approve yourself when authorized
Choose Approve myself if you have approval permission and your process allows you to make the decision. The action approves the selected version through the policy approval workflow. Policy ownership alone does not make this action available.
Request another person's approval
Choose Request approval, select an eligible person from Approver, and choose Send request. The list excludes you from the request-to-another-person choice. Ask the reviewer to inspect the saved version and use their assigned review actions.
Check the result and next step
After the page refreshes, read the approval state and any active attempt or feedback. If the version is approved, continue to the separate Publish step when ready. Advanced approval settings remain available for configured workflows, but ordinary self-approval or one-person review starts with the two simple actions.
What you should see
The version is approved by an authorized person or has a recorded approval request awaiting review.
If something doesn’t look right
Approve myself is absent
Ask an administrator to verify policy approval permission. Owning or editing the policy does not imply that permission.
No other eligible approvers appear
An administrator must give an appropriate member approval permission before you can send the request.
Approval cannot start
Read the unavailable reason, confirm the intended version, and check whether an existing approval attempt needs attention. Avoid creating duplicate attempts.
