Frameworks, controls & tests
Understand a test result and its data source
Read the test rule, source, timestamp, and history before deciding what the result means.
Before you start
Who this is for: Users who can read control tests.
- Open Tests in the intended organization.
- Have access to any linked source or evidence needed for your review.
Follow these steps
Open the test details
Select a test from Compliance > Tests. Read its name, test family, source, and current result. An aggregated register row may summarize related information; open the detailed test to inspect the actual record and its linked controls.
Inspect Instructions and Data source
Read Instructions to understand the rule and the evidence or integration it depends on. Inspect Data source in the detail area. The result is meaningful only within that rule's population, period, and available source; do not infer wider coverage from the title.
Compare the result with History
Open History to review prior runs and their timing. Use the current result and source freshness together. A historical passing run does not establish that today's connection is healthy or that a document remains current.
Choose the next action
Use the actions offered for that test and your role. Eligible document tests may offer Supply evidence. Other tests depend on a connected provider or a runnable rule. Check linked controls and any pending review message before treating a successful result as completion of all related work.
What you should see
You understand what the test evaluated, where its data came from, and whether further work or review is visible.
If something doesn’t look right
The test cannot run
Read the eligibility notice and check integration health and required access with the connection owner.
Only historical results are visible
The required integration or control scope may be disabled. Preserve the history and ask the owner about the intended active scope.
A passing result still shows review pending
Document supply and independent evidence approval are recorded separately. Follow the evidence link to inspect review status.
