Troubleshoot sign-in, missing access, and unavailable actions
Narrow an access problem to identity, organization, permission, scope, or workflow state.
Before you start
Who this is for: Anyone unable to reach a page or complete an expected action.
- Record the page name, visible error, and approximate time.
- Keep passwords, sign-in links, verification codes, and private document contents out of support messages.
Follow these steps
Check the sign-in method
Use the email associated with your membership. If the organization requires Microsoft single sign-on, follow that prompt. For an expired sign-in or authenticator challenge, return to sign in and start again. Ask an administrator to confirm an active account if email-link delivery does not arrive.
Confirm the organization
Read the organization switcher and select the workspace containing the record. Old links may point to a different organization. Guest sessions are bound to their invitation's organization; auditors need an assigned engagement with an open access window and permitted framework scope.
Separate permission from state
Check whether your role permits the action and whether the record is in the appropriate state. Examples include approval-locked policy editing, missing evidence-submission permission, a completed questionnaire, or an ineligible test. Visibility of a record does not grant every action on it.
Escalate with useful context
Ask the workspace administrator to verify membership, role, assignment, and scope. If the problem persists, contact juan@security-consultant.com with the page, action, sanitized error, and time. Describe what you expected and what occurred without including credentials or sensitive evidence.
What you should see
You can identify the likely access boundary or provide enough safe context for an administrator or support to investigate.
If something doesn’t look right
A record returns unavailable
Confirm organization and scope before assuming the record was deleted. Restricted resources may deliberately appear unavailable.
A button remains disabled
Read the nearby explanation and check required inputs, role, and lifecycle state.
An administrator can do it but you cannot
Compare the specific permission and assignment. Do not share the administrator's session or credentials as a workaround.
